1971 HOLDEN HQ UTE - $45999

 

The popular Holden ‘HQ’ series was introduced in 1971 to great reception, with production
continuing until 1974. The HQ received a newly designed body, chassis and suspension
components that paved the way for later ‘H Series’ cars. A large range of body styles and
models were available, from the humble Belmont Sedan, to the fully-fledged Monaro GTS 350
Coupe. Equally, many engine options were offered from the ‘173’ inline-6 to the Chevrolet
350ci V8.

This particular example is a 1971 Holden HQ Ute that is currently in the process of being
completed as a tough street cruiser. Cosmetically, attention is required in the paint
department to bring the full potential of this HQ. However, GTS Fluted guards, GTS grille,

lowered stance and 15x5.5 Front + 15x10 Rear rims give a strong glimpse into the true
possibilities of this HQ ute.

The neatly presented interior has received some modifications including VS Commodore
bucket seats that have been retrimmed black, HX GTS style dash with circular gauges and a
Hurst Pro-Matic 2 shifter. An aftermarket Alpine stereo is also present.

The drivetrain has received considerable work during the course of this build so far. A folder
of documentation can be provided on request. Some items include:

• Chassis modified, rails narrowed, to accommodate rear axle
