1968 HOLDEN HK MONARO GTS - $299999

Introduced as a new vehicle style for Holden, the HK Monaro was revealed in July of 1968
featuring a distinctive pillarless ‘coke bottle’ style body, inspired from Chevrolet’s Camaro and
Nova of the time. A series of trims were available, from the humble 161 straight-6 base -
model to the fully fledged GTS 327. The 327 was particular special as it received Chevrolets
327ci V8, which was rated roughly to 250hp in the day.

This particular example is a stunning HK Monaro GTS, leaving the GMH plant in 1968. This
HK has undergone a recent cosmetic freshen up and is finished in a timeless shade of ‘Silver
Mink’, complete with gloss black GTS stripes to the bonnet, boot & sides. An album of the
freshen up works can be provided upon request. A set of RBZ Billet wheels add an
aggressive look to this HK Monaro, running a 165/80R15 front and a 275/60R15 rear tyre.

The black interior trim presents beautifully and contrasts nicely with the subtle Silver Mink
exterior. While the wood grain dash, steering wheel, vinyl bucket seats and stainless Holden
belt buckles add a period correct look to this interior, a series of pro street inspired
modifications have been made. These include: B&M ratchet shifter, Autometer Tachometer
and Autometer volts, temperature and oil pressure gauges.

This HK Monaro GTS now runs a stout 410ci V8, mated to a reverse pattern turbo 400
gearbox with 4K stall, producing approximately 650hp. Additional driveline upgrades carried
out include:

  • Dart Block

  • AFR heads

  • Custom solid roller cam

  • SCAT crank

  • SCAT rod

  • JE Pistons

  • Jesel rockers

  • CVR water pump

  • Holley Performance carburettor

  • Power steering

  • 12.1 Compression

  • Aluminium radiator

  • United Speed Shop front end

  • 9" Differential

  • 31 Spline

  • Truetrac Diff

  • Currie axles

With a perfect balance of tough looks and 410ci V8 grunt, this Monaro is ready to hit the
