1968 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE - $110000

 

The First Generation of Mustang was introduced in 1964 and took the car world by storm with
a nine-year production run. Since then, the ‘Pony Cars’ have cemented their position of
authority within the American Muscle scene. The Mustang was distinctly designed with a long
bonnet and short rear deck and offered as a ‘hardtop’, ‘fastback’ and convertible. A range of

engines were made available, from the humble 200ci Inline-six to the stout 428ci ‘Cobra Jet’
V8.

This particular example is a RHD 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible that has received a full bare
metal rotisserie restoration. The current owner describes that this Mustang was an all-original,
rust free car when purchased and has owned the car for 35 years. As part of the restoration,
all original panels were used except for the bonnet. The striking red paint compliments the
convertible body shape excellently as well as chrome and stainless highlights throughout. The
engine bay was also colour matched 2 years ago. Aftermarket additions to the exterior of this
Mustang Convertible include LED headlights, ‘Shelby’ style hood scoop, custom made 2.5”
exhaust, new Mercedes material solid glass convertible roof and billet Centreline Convo Star
wheels.

The black vinyl interior is understated in it’s appearance but provides for a comfortable driving
experience in addition to the open top roof. New factory trim has been installed with the
addition of a GT console, Ididit tilt and collapsible steering column, integrated A/C, custom
stereo with a stacker and subwoofers and custom trim in the boot and Pro-Comp oil pressure
gauge mounted behind centre console roll-up compartment. The convertible roof in
electrically controlled via an under dash switch knob.

Undertaken during the restoration was a large amount of work to the driveline, suspension

• Chris Alston double adjustable coil cover front end, custom sway bar, custom made chrome moly strut tower arms, cobrajet rear caltracks with custom leaf springs and Bilstein rear shocks.

• Custom fitted, outlaw, 4 pot front calipers and disc brake rear end, custom booster with Wilwood master and all braided lines throughout the whole car

• Custom made 2.5” exhausts

• Custom made aluminium fuel tank with a Walbro 525 fuel pump
