CHRYSLER VALIANT SV1 (S SERIES) - $29999

 

The Valiant ‘SV1’, commonly referred to as the ‘S Series’, replaced the outgoing ‘RV1’ in
March of 1962 with production undertaken at Chryslers Mile End manufacturing facility. Both
the ‘RV1’ and ‘SV1’ were US based designed vehicles, fundamentally the same as the first
generation Plymouth Valiant but were assembled in Australian and right hand drive. Minor
cosmetic alterations were made for ‘SV1’ including a revised front grille, removal of spare
wheel moulding to boot and circle taillights. Offered in one body style with one engine option,
the ‘SV1’ did allow customers to choose between the three-speed manual or automatic
transmissions.

This particular example is an excellently presented Chrysler Valiant SV1 finished in the solid
‘Sage Green’. The exterior retains its SV1 details including hubcaps, body mouldings,
‘Valiant’ boot moulding and mudflaps to name a few. Colour matched steel wheels and white
wall tyres complete the period correct look of this S Series Valiant.

The interior presents well for its age featuring green vinyl and subtle stainless details
throughout. Period correct items are present including the ‘Valiant’ steering wheel, twin gauge
dash cluster and ‘fishscale’ finish dash fascia. It does seem that the original radio has since
been replaced with what appears to be a late model Valiant solid state unit.

This SV1 runs the 225ci Slant-6 motor mated to a three-speed column shift manual
transmission.
