2002 HSV VY GTS - $104,999

The VY HSV series built upon the late 90s + early 2000s aussie muscle car reputation that
the VT and VX had firmly cemented. The ‘Y Series’ models received a distinctive front,
rear bumper and side skirt redesign that introduced bold, angular lines, rather than the
smooth curves of the previous models. The addition of integrated fender farings and body
side mouldings added to the muscular shape. This styling choice would form the basis the
later ‘Z Series’ HSV’s. A very limited run of 142 vehicles across Series 1 and 2 were
produced, 117 for Series 1 and 25 for series 2.

This particular Series 1 example was assembled in HSV’s Clayton facility on the 30th of
November 2002, demonstrating a very early build number of 0010. Wearing its Phantom Black
metallic paint, the body shows very little sign of wear. The GTS spoiler (original supplied to
new owner) has been carefully replaced in favour for the low line VY Senator style boot lip.
Lowered suspension (original supplied to new owner) on all four corners gives the car an
aggressive presence whether on road or stationary. Redesigned for the ‘Y Series’, the 5
spoke 19-inch wheels (originals supplied to new owner) have been swapped for a set of
replica Walky Wheels. To complete the exterior, as set of HSV embossed AP Racing brakes
at each corner look just as good as they perform.

Stepping into the interior, a set of GTS contoured Coulson seats with anthracite leather
bolsters and chainmail leather inserts provide a comfortable driving experience for the driver
and passenger. Subtle HSV features include GTS floor mats, HSV binnacle gauges, HSV fire
extinguisher and HSV GTS carbon fibre style dash surrounds and HSV satellite navigation
system. The original Blaupunkt ‘in dash’ 6 disc CD changer audio system is still retained while a tilt
and slide sunroof adds to the premium feel of the interior.

The ‘Y Series’ GTS carried over the HSV C4B 300kw LS1 V8 from the previous VX GTS,
which still holds up very strong to this day. Some light modifications include a camshaft
upgrade, tune, mufflers, exhaust and OTR intake enhance the power output and sound.
Power is delivered through a 4L60-E HD 4 speed automatic and sent to the rear wheels
through HSVs Hydra-Trak rear differential.

Hit the road this summer in this very rare GTS and experience the pinnacle of the HSV VY
