1974 FORD XB FAIRMONT 'GT REPLICA' - $69999
The XB series was introduced in 1973 as the second iteration to the Falcon, with production
running until 1976. The XB was the replacement to the XA, receiving minor cosmetic
changes. The GT model lined continued through the XB series in Sedan and Hardtop
variants.
This particular example started life as a 1974 Ford XB Falcon sedan with a factory fitted 302ci V8.
It has now been carefully crafted into an XB GT replica, featuring ‘GT 351’ decals, GT grille +
quad headlight arrangement and twin scoop bonnet. The exterior is finished in an off-white
colour that offsets nicely against the black GT highlights. An aftermarket pop-up sunroof has also been installed. The exterior is completed with a set of period correct Fairmont GS steel wheels and wheel trims.
Internally, the black vinyl seats with material inserts present well amongst other features such
as the matching vinyl door cards. A GT/GS steering wheel is a nice upgrade over the
standard issue XB Fairmont wheel. This example also features a GT/GS Ford Solid State Car
Stereo.
As for the running gear, this XB is now fitted with a 408ci V8 with a range of engine work being complete. The work included:
-
Forged flat tops
-
10.5:1 compression
-
SCAT crank
-
Trend pushrods .80
-
Crane Blue Racer hydraulic cam
-
Crane lifters
-
Crane roller rockers
-
Cometic head gaskets
-
MSD 8350
-
Edelbrock Performer
-
2V open heads rebuilt
This XB also features a rebuilt C4 automatic transmission as well as a 3.5 nine inch LSD.
As a capable cruiser with power and torque to match, this XB GT replica is perfect for an
enjoyable driving experience, with the looks to match.
