1970 HOLDEN HG PREMIER - $114999
Replacing the ‘HT’ series, the HG was introduced in 1970 with a production run of only one
year. A minor facelift was undertaken with the introduction of new grilles, colours and trim
designs. Belmont, Kingswood, Premier and Brougham model lines were retained as well as
the desirable Monaro GTS. The HG series also featured an export program to South Africa,
with models rebranded as ‘Chevrolet Kommando’, ‘Constantina’ and ‘El Camino’.
This particular example is an HG Premier, leaving GMH’s Sydney Pagewood plant in 1970.
The ‘Electra Blue Metallic’ paint is factory-matching numbers, presenting beautifully against
the crystal clear chrome and stainless trim and mouldings. A subtle reverse cowl houses the
incredible powerhouse running gear below, while a set of Centreline Autodrags complete the
Pro Street look.
While the original ‘Torquoise Mist’ vinyl interior has been replaced, the understated black vinyl
with bucket seats look right at home against the blue exterior. The Premier treatment
continues with timber highlights and premier insignia pressed into the vinyl door cards. A
B&M ratchet shifter and Holly EFI digital dash transform the interior and give the driver all the
tools required to tame the aggressive running gear.
While the original driveline is long gone, it has made way for some serious horsepower, the
parts list is as follows:
434 Weld Alloy Block
Titanium Valve + Springs
1.8 Roller Rockers
Garret GTX 4508R Turbo running 17 pounds of boost
Powerglide with deadenberry case and trans brake (rated at 2000hp)
3200 Stall Converter
Aeroflow fuel system with 440 fuel pumps
If you’re in the market for some serious horsepower in a Premier that looks equality as
beautiful, then enquire now as this HG will not last long.
