1970 FORD FALCON XW GT 351 'SURVIVOR' - $179999
The XW was introduced in 1969, replacing the XT Falcon. Almost all-exterior bodywork was
restyled, with an interior redesign undertaken. Falcon, Futura and Fairmont models were
marketed, while the XW GT-HO remains the most sought after.
This particular example is a matching numbers 1970 XW GT 351 presented as a true survivor
of it’s time. The exterior is finished in the rare and much desired Candy Apple Red, with the
single gold GT stripe across the centre bodyline. All GT body features a present including
bonnet pins, bonnet scope, ‘351 GT’ badging, ‘Super Roo’ decal and front spoiler. Original
hubcaps have been retained and add to this excellent survivor.
The interior presents beautifully, boasting black vinyl with timber and stainless highlights
throughout. The 4-speed manual centre console features ‘351’ badging, as well as ‘GT’
badging on the glove box. The black interior is not only desirable, but provides a striking
contrast to the exterior.
The engine bay houses the matching numbers 351 Cleveland V8 and 4-Speed manual
gearbox. Keeping in the spirit of this survivor, this original running gear provides the driver
with an experience that can be matched to what it would have been like to drive the car new
in the early 70s, a pure and raw experience.
This XW was also used as a daily diver up until 20 years ago, with some minor battle scars to
show for. Although it is a survivor, the car does present in good, solid condition. Whether it be
for a collection or for cruising, the opportunity to secure a GT like this are becoming scarce.
