1966 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK - $89999
The First Generation of Mustang was introduced in 1964 and took the car world by storm with
a nine-year production run. Since then, the ‘Pony Cars’ have cemented their position of
authority within the American Muscle scene. The Mustang was distinctly designed with a long
bonnet and short rear deck and offered as a ‘hardtop’, ‘fastback’ and convertible. A range of
engines were made available, from the humble 200ci Inline-six to the stout 428ci ‘Cobra Jet’
V8.
This particular example is a Ford Mustang Fastback leaving Ford’s manufacturing facility in
1966. The body is finished in what appears to be Ford’s ‘Silver Frost’, complimenting the
timeless bodylines of this 66’ Fastback. A set of Mustang GT wheels appear at each corner,
wrapped in a set of red wall tyres and complete with Mustang centre caps.
The black vinyl interior is understated in it’s appearance but provides for a comfortable driving
experience. The original detailing is still present including the steering wheel, stainless dash
highlights and ‘Mustang’ FM radio. However, the original shift knob has since been replaced
with a performance orientated ‘Hurst’ T-shifter.
This 66’ Fastback currently runs a 289ci V8, matted to a 4-speed manual transmission. While
this may not be considered particularly powerful by today’s standards, it certainly offers an
exciting, period correct driving experience and sound.
As a capable cruiser with power and looks to match, this 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback is
perfect for an enjoyable weekend driving experience.
