The Fourth-Generation F-Series was introduced in 1961 with a five-year production run. The
Fourth-Generation styling was lower and wider than it’s predecessor as well as now featuring
integrated bodylines across the bonnet, front guards, doors and styleside bed. The ‘Twin I-
Beam’ independent front suspension was introduced in 1965, improving driveability and now
containing coil springs.
This particular example is an immaculate Ford F100, manufactured in 1965 towards the end
of the Fourth-Generation model run. This F100 is finished in a striking hue of gloss red with
similar treatment to the steel wheels. Chrome and stainless detailing is apparent throughout,
including the distinct side body moulding that runs from the bonnet to the styleside bed. As
this is a 1965 F100, Ford’s ‘Twin I-Beam’ front suspension was installed from factory and is
denoted by the large ‘Twin I-Beam’ badge on the front quarters. Lowered suspension and
wide rear wheels really help this F100 make a statement on and off the road.
The interior presents just as well as the exterior, with the bold gloss red paint appearing
across the dash and inner door skins. While quite understated and rudimentary in its design,
the simple interior highlights the functionality and easy-going nature of cruising an F-Series
truck of this era. The big bench seat is as comfortable to sit in as it looks, with subtle red
piping detailing referencing the exterior colour. The original tachometer takes centre stage in
the dash with the addition of Specometer volt and oil pressure gauges.
This F100 truck now runs a stout 390ci big block, mated to a beefed up C4 automatic
transmission. This provides for an excellent, low effort cruising experience while having the
